Yes, we are an FDA approved, licensed soap manufacturer.
Do you make products other than soaps?
As of now, soaps are our only product. But we do have plans of building a product line that is in line with our brand philosophy & values - stay tuned for more.
What method do you use to make your soaps?
We make our soaps by the traditional cold-process method.
There are 2 main reasons for this; First, that it allows us complete control over the ingredients and therefore we can keep away from the bad stuff like sulphates, hardeners, detergents etc. which are usually found in commercial soaps. And second, because of the cold-process method, each of our soaps have glycerin in them which dries out your skin less and is kinder to your skin.
Are cold-process soaps better than melt and pour soaps?
If you ask us, the short answer is that cold-process soaps are far better. But the long answer is, well, longish! :)
Melt and pour soaps are premade soap bases that have been melted down and then poured into molds. They are easy to work with and require no curing time, so they can be used right away. They come in a wide variety of colors and scents, and you can add additional ingredients to customize them to your liking.
For manufacturers, one advantage of melt and pour soaps is that they are less time-consuming than cold process soaps. They don't require the same level of skill and experience to make, and you don't need to wait for them to cure before using them.
However, melt and pour soaps have some limitations. They tend to be of inferior quality, since they are premade soap bases and manufacturers have less control over the ingredients and the final product.
On the other hand, cold process soaps (the kind we make) are made entirely from scratch using oils, lye, and water. They require more time and effort to make, as well as a certain level of knowledge and skill. However, they offer more control over the ingredients and the final product. They also tend to be more expensive to make but result in a superior quality of soap.
Cold process soaps require a curing time of several weeks before they can be used, which can be a disadvantage if you need soap right away. However, they tend to produce a richer lather and better cleansing ability than melt and pour soaps.
From a consumer point of view, we highly recommend buying cold process soaps over melt and pour soaps.
Are your soaps organic?
Yes and No. At Purple Sage, we use a combination of organic and non-organic ingredients in our products. For example, the Chamomile Tea and Honey we use as ingredients in our soaps are organic. Other ingredients like the Kokum Butter we use are unprocessed and raw, but not organic. While all our soaps are natural, glycerin soaps, they are not fully organic.
Are your soaps vegan?
Yes. Purple Sage products do not contain animal by-products.
Are your soaps cruelty-free?
Yes. Purple Sage products are not tested on animals.
Do your soaps contain any preservatives?
Natural Soaps made by the cold process method (the method used at Purple Sage), by its nature, is an alkaline substance that is hostile to the growth of bacteria and fungi. This method produces a glycerin soap that does not need preservatives to prevent spoilage or bacterial growth.
Do your soaps expire?
Yes. Each product has its own expiry date indicated on the outer packaging of each individual soap.
Where are your products made?
The country of origin of our raw ingredients varies. We are committed to sourcing most of our ingredients in India, but sometimes we can only source ingredients in the country where the ingredient is native (eg: Dead Sea Mud).
All Purple Sage soaps are manufactured and packaged in India.
How should I store my Purple Sage soaps?
We recommend storing your packaged products in a cool, dry, dark place.
Once opened, we highly recommend using a slotted dish so that the water drains away from the soap and keeping the bathroom ventilated. This will make your soap last longer.
Are your products safe during pregnancy/ breastfeeding?
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is best to avoid products containing essential oils. As all of our soaps have essential oils, to be safe, we recommend that you consult your doctor before using our soaps. I have very sensitive/reactive skin, can I use your products?
We offer a selection of products that do wonders for sensitive skin. But just to be safe, we recommend that you test your products on a small area such as the inner arm. If there’s no reaction during the following 24 hours, you’re good to go!

I changed my mind; can I return my order?
Yes, you can return an item up to 30 days after your purchase. To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it. What are your Shipping Fees?
Shipping above a purchase of INR 1000.00 is free. If not, shipping will be calculated at check-out based on the location our products are to be shipped to.

Do you take custom orders?
We can custom make soaps for your special event like a Haldi, a wedding etc. However, we need a lead time of a minimum of 3 months to source and customise your product for you and our minimum order quantity is 500 nos.
